Stocks slide after inflation data; tech leads Nasdaq downturnWomen’s safety focus of Chitra Santhe in Bengaluru on Jan 5WASHINGTON — Former President Bill Clinton was admitted Monday to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington after developing a fever. The 78-year-old was hospitalized in the “afternoon for testing and observation," Angel Urena, Clinton's deputy chief of staff, said in a statement. “He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving,” Urena said. Clinton, a Democrat who served two terms as president from January 1993 until January 2001, addressed the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this summer, and campaigned ahead of November's election for the unsuccessful White House bid of Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris . In the years since Clinton left the White House, he's faced some health scares. In 2004, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery after experiencing prolonged chest pains and shortness of breath. Clinton returned to the hospital for surgery for a partially collapsed lung in 2005, and in 2010 he had a pair of stents implanted in a coronary artery. Clinton responded by embracing a largely vegan diet that saw him lose weight and report improved health. In 2021, the former president was hospitalized for six days in California while being treated for an infection that was unrelated to COVID-19, when the pandemic was still near its height. An aide to the former president said then that Clinton had a urological infection that spread to his bloodstream, but was on the mend and never went into septic shock, a potentially life-threatening condition. The aide said Clinton was in an intensive care section of the hospital that time, but wasn’t receiving ICU care.

But perhaps most importantly, Brown's mere presence kept Houston from double-teaming Xavier Worthy, DeAndre Hopkins and Travis Kelce all afternoon. Story continues below video LB T.J. Watt. The perennial All-Pro is dealing with an ankle injury and had a quiet game in the loss to Baltimore, finishing with just four tackles and didn’t have a single hit against Ravens QB Lamar Jackson. There wasn't much left for Las Vegas Raiders fans to hold onto with this 2024 season. The team is bad, one of the worst in the league, and there isn't much to be happy about outside of a few players like Maxx Crosby and Brock Bowers. Those two are obviously cornerstone pieces, but when it comes to anything else to be happy about, there was only one thing keeping the fan base interested in this year. The fan base had the 2025 NFL draft to look forward to with the Raiders firmly in position to keep the No. 1 overall pick. That would mean that they would have their choice of any player in the entire draft, including Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. They needed a franchise quarterback, very badly. But now, that may have to wait. With their win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Raiders go from the No. 1 pick to the No. 6 overall pick. That pretty much puts them out of the running for the two best QBs. After the game, Antonio Pierce said to talk to general manager Tom Telesco . On Monday, during his day-after press conference, he doubled down on not caring about having a better draft pick. "We don't do this to lose," head coach Antonio Pierce said. "We don't do this for anybody's fantasy football team. Don't do this for anybody's draft projections. None of that sh_t matters to us. What matters is winning, and that's all we want to do." And, that's respectable coming from his side of things. But, you had your chance to win, and that ship has long sailed away. There was no incentive to win. That one little win, making him 3-12 rather than 2-13, does not help him keep his job. In fact, I think it makes it worse when you look at the context of everything. But, for all we know, owner Mark Davis may have told him that he needed to win that game. In fact, that was a rumor coming into the game. From the fans' standpoint, they really wanted a chance to be happy about having a franchise quarterback again. And, that could be gone. The Raiders will play the New Orleans Saints next, and then finish off the year against the Los Angeles Chargers. (Photo by Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP, File) Christopher Nolan is following his Oscar-winning “Oppenheimer” with a true epic: Homer’s “The Odyssey.” It will open in theaters on July 17, 2026, Universal Pictures said Monday. Details remain scarce, but the studio teased that it will be a “mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX technology.” It will also be the first time that an adaptation of Homer’s saga will play on IMAX film screens. Nolan has been an IMAX enthusiast for years, going back to “The Dark Knight,” and has made his last three films exclusively using large format film and the highest resolution film cameras. For “Oppenheimer,” the first black-and-white IMAX film stock was developed. Nolan hasn’t said specifically what the new technology for “The Odyssey” will be, but earlier this month he told The Associated Press that they’re in an intensive testing phase with IMAX to prepare for the new production. “They have an incredible engineering staff, really brilliant minds doing extraordinary work,” Nolan said. “It’s wonderful to see innovation in the celluloid film arena still happening and happening at the highest level possible.” “The Odyssey” will be Nolan’s second collaboration with Universal Pictures following “Oppenheimer,” which earned nearly $1 billion at the box office and won the filmmaker his first Oscars, including for best director and best picture . Rumors about his next project have been swirling ever since, with near-daily speculations about plot — none of which turned out to be true — and casting. While there are many reports about actors joining the ensemble, none has been officially confirmed by the studio. Lindsey Bahr, The Associated Press See a typo/mistake? Have a story/tip?
