INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts defense started this season struggling. It couldn't stop the run, couldn't keep teams out of the end zone, couldn't get off the field. Now the script has flipped. Defensive coordinator Gus Bradley's group is playing stouter, holding teams — even the high-scoring Detroit Lions — largely in check long enough to give Indy a chance to win, and it's the Colts offense that has struggled. “They are playing their tails off. You don’t want them on the field a bunch and as an offense you want to be able to play complementary football,” running back Jonathan Taylor said after Sunday's 24-6 loss. “I would say specifically on offense, it sucks when you can’t help your defense out when they are fighting their tails off all game.” Indy's defense held up its end of the bargain by limiting the Lions (10-1) to 14 first-half points and allowing just 24, matching Detroit's lowest output since Week 3. The problem: Even when the Colts (5-7) did get Detroit off the field, they couldn't sustain drives or score touchdowns. Again. Anthony Richardson provided the bulk of the ground game by rushing 10 times for 61 yards, mostly early. Taylor managed just 35 yards on 11 carries and a season-high 10 penalties constantly forced the Colts to dig out from deep deficits. Part of that was by design. “We knew Jonathan Taylor was going to be the guy we needed to shut down,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said. “We did that. The quarterback runs. It got us on a couple but overall, we did what we needed to do, and we kept them out of that game." Part of it could be because of an injury-battered offensive line that has started three rookies each of the past two weeks and finished the previous game with the same three rookies. Whatever the fix, Indy needs a good solution. There is good news for Indy is that its schedule now gets substantially more manageable. After losing four of five, all to teams in playoff position and three to division leaders, Indy faces only one team with a winning record in its final five games. The most recent time the Colts played a team with a losing mark, Richardson rallied them past the New York Jets 28-27. But Colts coach Shane Steichen knows that's not the answer. The Colts must get this offense righted now. “We’ve got to get that figured out. We’ve got to get him going on the ground,” Steichen said when asked about Taylor, who has 92 yards on his past 35 carries. “We’ll look at the offensive line. We’ll look at everything." What’s working Pass rush. Pro Bowl DT DeForest Buckner's presence certainly has been felt since he returned from a sprained ankle Oct. 27. In those past five games, the Colts have had 14 sacks, including three of Jared Goff on Sunday. What needs work Penalties. The Colts have had one of the cleanest operations in the league most of this season. Sunday was an anomaly, but one that can't merely be written off. Stock up WR Michael Pittman Jr. The five-year veteran is one of the league's toughest guys, but playing through a back injury appeared to take its toll on Pittman's productivity. Since sitting out in Week 10, Pittman has 11 receptions for 142 yards including six for 96 yards, his second-highest total of the season, Sunday. Stock down Tight ends. Each week the Colts want their tight ends to make an impact. And each week, they seem to fail. It happened again Sunday when Drew Ogletree dropped a TD pass that would have given Indy a 10-7 lead. Instead, Indy settled for a field goal and a 7-6 deficit. Through 12 games, Indy's tight ends have a total of 26 catches, 299 yards and two TDs. That's just not good enough in a league where versatile, productive tight ends increasingly signal success. Injuries Pittman and WR Josh Downs both returned to the game after leaving briefly with shoulder injuries. WR Ashton Dulin did not return after hurting his foot in the second half. But the bigger questions come on the offensive line. LT Bernhard Raimann (knee) was inactive Sunday, and rookie center Tanor Bortolini entered the concussion protocol Monday. Bortolini was one of three rookie starters the past two weeks, replacing Pro Bowler Ryan Kelly who is on injured reserve. Key number 55.88 — Indy has scored touchdowns on 55.88% of its red zone trips this season. While it puts it near the middle of the NFL, it's cost the Colts multiple wins. Next steps Richardson needs to rebound from this latest 11 of 28 performance and show he can lead the Colts to victories week after week. He'll get plenty of chances over the season's final month, starting with next week's game at the New England Patriots. ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl Michael Marot, The Associated PressGus Malzahn is leaving UCF to become Florida State's offensive coordinator, AP source says
Young men swung to the right for Trump after a campaign dominated by masculine appeals
Russian energy giant Gazprom says it will suspend gas exports to Moldova from January 1 due to unpaid debt by Moldova, which is bracing for severe power cuts. or signup to continue reading It said the company reserved the right to take any action, including terminating the supply contract with Moldova. Russia supplies Moldova with about two billion cubic metres of gas per year, which is piped via Ukraine to the breakaway region of Transdniestria where it is used to generate cheap power that is sold to government-controlled parts of Moldova. Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean condemned the Russian decision, which is a precursor to a total shutdown of Russian gas exports via Ukraine and to Europe, where it flows further to Slovakia, Austria, Hungary and Italy, once a current transit deal with Ukraine expires on December 31. Moldova will be hit the hardest by the shutdown. "This decision confirms once again the intention of the Kremlin to leave the inhabitants of the Transdniestrian region without light and heat in the middle of the winter," Recean wrote on Facebook, accusing Russia of using energy as a political weapon. Moscow has repeatedly dismissed those allegations. Russia, which is critical of Moldova's West-leaning central government, has said Moldova should pay a debt on past supplies. According to Russian calculations, the debt stands at $US709 million ($A1.1 billion). Moldova has put the debt at $US8.6 million ($A13.8 million). Gazprom has said previously it wants Moldova to pay the debt before it starts to pump gas to the country via alternative routes. Transdniestria and the government in Chisinau agreed in 2022 that all Russian gas received by Moldova would flow to the breakaway region, which traditionally does not pay for fuel. Without gas supplies, the power-generating plant could stop working and Moldova and Transdniestria would face hours-long blackouts similar to those experienced by Ukraine due to Russia's attacks on its energy infrastructure in their war. Recean said Moldova had diversified sources of gas supply "in order to reduce dependence on a single supplier". "Our country is prepared to handle any situation that arises following the Kremlin's decision," he added. Moldova's population of 2.5 million has been preparing for long power cuts since Ukraine's government said it will not extend its transit contract with Gazprom. Moldova and Transdniestria have both declared states of emergency over the threat of disrupted gas supplies, and Moldova said on Friday it will curb power exports and introduce measures to reduce consumption by at least a third from January 1. Moldovan President Maia Sandu has accused Gazprom of provoking an energy crisis, saying it was refusing to supply gas through an alternative route. Trump and giveaways: What Elon Musk spent $270M on during the electionNoneFifteen-time major winner Woods has not played since The Open in July. Tiger Woods has announced that he will not compete at the Hero World Challenge in December. Woods, who hosts the event in the Bahamas, has not played since The Open, more than four months ago. He underwent back surgery in September. “I am disappointed that I will not be able to compete this year at the Hero World Challenge, but always look forward to being tournament host,” Woods wrote on X. Woods said after The Open at Royal Troon that he intended to play, but it now looks to be too early for him during his recovery. The 15-time major winner underwent microdepression surgery of the lumbar spine for nerve impingement in the lower back. It was the latest of several back operations he has had during his career. Woods, meanwhile, said that three remaining places in the Hero Challenge field would be filled by Justin Thomas, Jason Day and Nick Dunlap.

This may seem an exaggeration, but there is an ongoing isolation pandemic. The current wave of loneliness, along with the decreasing number of family members; and even the growth of pet care businesses are signs of this problem. As a parent and teacher, I see this growing problem among my sons' peers and in my classrooms. While we seem to be growing more connected to things (internet, devices and services), we are disconnecting with people. This lack of personal connection is starting more at a younger age and deepening through generations with significant negative social impact on society and individuals. To prevent future personal and societal problems, families, schools and workplaces need to encourage and foster personal connections through meaningful friendship. Reading and understanding books becomes harder. Students with few friends or siblings will have issues with books from Charles Dickens, Enid Blyton, or even the Wimpy Kid series; all focus on relationships. These books have been regularly used to teach the love of reading, building imagination and understanding society. The ability to get a deeper meaning or relate to the author's message is lost. This deeper understanding becomes even harder with business text, which requires reading at different levels to apply concepts innovatively or address new conditions. Understanding how various people use words is an essential skill, ideally with foundations built when learning to talk at home. The quality of friendships is vital in addressing social ills. More quality friends reduce the need for social media and the documented associated extremes. Physical interaction gives the same dopamine hit that social media provides but in better dosage and longer duration. By focusing on quality friends, depression and other social ills can be reduced as people share their feelings, grow, and interact in a positive manner. For students, having genuine friends helps with studying and learning from schoolwork. There are more exchanges and explanations of ideas in a positive environment. Research supports that talking with others builds stronger relationships than text messages. Thus, for students, more trustworthy contacts help them develop as individuals. I see many university students struggle in class because they have few people they call friends. Students struggle with mental health problems because the structure that existed before and provided help is not there. Parents assume that students are connecting because of online interactions, but that cheap substitute for real friendship is not working. More friends means less dependence on one person; hence, relationships are better. Young adults have fewer people to interact with, resulting in intense interactions. Thus, there are more strains or demands on fewer relationships. For example, if someone has one friend, they discuss ten items with their one friend, requiring much of that one friend's time and energy. Therefore, the friend may start limiting interaction as the relationship requires a lot of energy and the person talking feels less fulfilled. Two unhappy people. However, if someone has five friends, then they can discuss two items with each other; and so the friends are happy to interact more because the relationship requires less energy. Ironically, by having more friends, individuals develop better relationships. The principle applies even at the workplace because if someone can relate to a wider number of people in the office, they can get more done and contribute to better productivity. Workplaces have always seen the need for friendship at work, though it may not be referred to as such. In offices, teamwork, openness, and psychological safety are terms that have similar meaning to authentic human interaction. Work-from-home advocates prioritise interacting with people at home, whereas return-to-office advocates prioritise interacting with people in the office. However, generational problems and the lack of interpersonal experiences, real and perceived, highlight the difficulty of communicating various needs and desires by the individual. It comes as no surprise that communication is one of if not the most valuable skills for the workplace. Companies have to spend time developing workers' abilities in talking with each other because that particular skill may not have been fully developed at home or in school. Having real friends helps individuals and society by reducing loneliness and business inefficiencies caused by employees' mental distractions. A sense of belonging starts with family interactions followed by schools and grows into society. The Pittsburgh Steelers ' path in the 2024 playoffs is much clearer now than when the team held a 10-3 record just a few weeks ago. After a three-game losing streak, Pittsburgh fell to second place in the AFC North behind the Baltimore Ravens and the Steelers are very likely to land either the fifth or sixth seed in the AFC playoff picture. That means the Steelers will likely go on the road to face either the Ravens or the Houston Texans. The Texans defeated the Joe Flacco-led Cleveland Browns in last year's Wild Card Round. Last season, the Browns lost quarterback Deshaun Watson to a season-ending injury midway through the year after a 6-3 start. Cleveland gave Dorian Thompson-Robinson a chance to take over under center for the remainder of the season, as he took down Pittsburgh at home the next week. As many remember, Flacco would eventually take over as Cleveland's starter and led them to an 11-6 record as the AFC's fifth seed. Flacco and the Browns had high hopes of getting a Wild Card victory over then-rookie sensation CJ Stroud and the Texans, but Houston would end up demolishing Cleveland, 45-14. Pittsburgh's last and only hope of winning the division and getting a home first-round playoff game would require a win over the Cincinnati Bengals and a Baltimore loss to Cleveland. With the odds of that not being in Pittsburgh's favor, it seems highly likely that the Steelers will be traveling to Houston for the first round of the playoffs. Cleveland's 92.3 The Fan Afternoon Drive with Nick Wilson recently talked about Pittsburgh's struggles. Wilson was asked if he is enjoying how the Steelers' season is ending, and decided to make an interesting comparison between the two AFC North teams. "They're setting up to be this year's you [Cleveland Browns]," Wilson said. "Like, they're going to be an 11-win team, they're gonna face Houston in the first round of the playoffs. There's a chance that Houston, who's not very good right now, just throttles them. And basically they would've had all of this for not. I mean, we've already seen [Andrew] Fillipponi do the Tomlin flip-flop." "I'd rather be them [Pittsburgh Steelers], still, than us right now. Neither of you has any hope of getting better at the quarterback position going forward." The last time the Steelers faced Houston was in Week 4 of 2023, when Kenny Pickett and the team got crushed by a score of 30-6 . That loss quickly taught Steelers fans that the organization was far from being a true contender in the AFC, and it was a torturous game that most would like to forget. Obviously, the Steelers are a far better team than the roster they had in the beginning of 2023. Pickett was replaced and the defense has mightily improved, so the Steelers should feel much better about their chances this time around. Although, with the product that they've put on the field as of late, it's quite possible the Steelers disappoint. On a positive note, the Texans have also played extremely poorly lately and have suffered key injuries. Steelers Likely To Have Serious Organizational Changes If They Lose In Wild Card Round Yet Again Mike Tomlin knows what's at stake within the next couple weeks. Omar Khan and the front office were very adamant about their expectations for 2024. Most would think a team who once held a 10-3 record should have no excuse for ending a season without a playoff victory. The fan base is now beyond impatient and ready to root for a team that the rest of the NFL fears. Though Houston is a quality football team, Tomlin should have no excuse for not being able to go on the road and take down the Texans, who seem lost at this stage of the season. Before an embarrassing losing skid, the Steelers were solidified Super Bowl contenders. By now, most outside of Pittsburgh have gotten off of that train and don't see this team making a deep run. Tomlin is ready to win another championship, and these next few weeks will ultimately determine whether that's a real possibility for him or not. A former aide to anti-trans lawmaker Nancy Mace has ripped the South Carolina congresswoman over her bill that would ban trans women from women’s restrooms, calling it nothing more than “a ploy” to get on TV, a claim that Mace has faced before. “If you think this bill is about protecting women and not simply a ploy to get on Fox News , you’ve been fooled,” Natalie Johnson, who served as Mace’s director of communications in 2021, posted on X in response to Mace’s bill which targets restrooms solely in the U.S. Capitol. Her bill was introduced two weeks after Sarah McBride (D-Del.) became the first openly trans person elected to Congress. Mace’s legislation is a clear reversal of prior pro-LGBTQ comments she’s made while in office, though it falls in line with current rhetoric that has been credited in part with helping fuel President-elect Donald Trump ’s reelection campaign. If you think this bill is about protecting women and not simply a ploy to get on Fox News, you've been fooled. pic.twitter.com/RWvAS2DsmE “I strongly support LGBTQ rights. No one should be discriminated against,” Mace told the Washington Examiner shortly after taking office as a freshman lawmaker in 2021. “Having been around gay, lesbian, and transgender people has informed my opinion over my lifetime.” Newsweek on Thursday said it counted 326 instances within the last 72 hours where Mace posted, reposted or responded to posts on social media about bathrooms. Her posts include her repeatedly and intentionally identifying transgender women, like McBride, as men. “It’s offensive that a man in a skirt thinks that he’s my equal,” Mace said in an interview with Newsmax Wednesday. A representative with Mace’s office did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment on Johnson’s criticism or on why Mace’s support of the LGBTQ community has changed. Mace, who ran her own PR firm before seeking office, has previously been accused by former staffers of not being “a real legislator” and primarily “using her office to get on TV.” Earlier this year, she was also accused by staffers of wanting to “get punched in the face” by rioters during the 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol so that she’d get media attention for it. Transgender rights ended up playing a major role in the 2024 presidential election, with Republicans gaining ground by painting Democrats as being too far to the left on social issues like transgender rights. One particular pro-Trump ad that criticized Kamala Harris ’ support of trans rights was deemed “the most impactful commercial of his campaign” and even suggested as having “won Donald Trump the election.” Related From Our PartnerMid-American Conference football goes all in on November weeknights for the TV viewers
Home Team tech agency ramps up hiring and keeps flexi-work amid global techlashIt has been more than three decades since the final episode of Bread aired It's been over 30 years since the cast of Carla Lane's Bread provided viewers with a unique glimpse into Liverpool life, a perspective only this city could offer. Set in Liverpool during the mid-'80s, the series centers around the devoutly Catholic Boswell family and first aired on May 1, 1986. It didn't take long for the show's iconic ceramic hen from the title sequence and the theme tune sung by the cast to become familiar to millions of viewers. The street featured in the show was Elswick Street in Dingle , and it ran for eight series until 1991. As one of the nation's favorite sitcoms, Bread was created by the late Carla Lane, who sadly passed away in 2016. Viewers will remember many unforgettable moments, including Rita Tushingham’s guest appearance as the neighbor Celia, Liverpool singer Sonia playing Adrian’s girlfriend Ellia, and the family’s holiday to Italy in the 1988 Christmas special, among others. But what have the stars of the show been up to since then? After Bread, the cast has participated in a variety of projects, including Hollywood films, theater tours, and soap operas. Unfortunately, some of the legendary actors are no longer with us. Here, we take a brief look back at what several of the characters have done since the show ended. Jean Boht - Nellie Boswell Jean Boht played Nellie, the matriarch of the family and "tough love" mum to the Boswell clan. Fearsomely protective of her children, Nellie was a fan favourite who demanded respect at the kitchen table from her sons. Wirral-born Jean’s career spanned the years from 1962, seeing her star in Some Mothers Do ’Ave ’Em, Juliet Bravo in the mid-1980s, and Mothers And Daughters, in 2004. She has also visited soapland, with appearances in Casualty, Doctors, Holby City and The Bill. She also appeared on stage with Jeremy Irons in Embers in 2006 and starred in Chris Shepherd's award-winning short film Bad Night for the Blues in 2010.. In her personal life, Jean, now aged 90s, married American conductor Carl Davis in 1970 and together they have three daughters. Boht died aged 91 on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Sharing the news in a statement, her family said: “Jean had been battling vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease with the indefatigable spirit for which she was both beloved and renowned. She was a resident at Denville Hall, the home for members of the theatrical profession.” Ronald Forfar - Freddie Boswell Nellie's adulterous husband Freddie Boswell was played by Ronald Forfar. Recognisable from his shock of untrained white hair and a cheeky comeback, Freddie's affair with Lilo Lil was a constant through. Forfar previously starred in an episode of ITV spy series The New Avengers in 1976 and in TV series Airport Chaplain the following year. And after finishing Bread, he continued to have a prestigious acting career as well as becoming a novelist. He went on to appear in the Chuckle Brother's Chucklevision several times between 1998 and 2002. Forfar lived in Normandy renovating a country cottage between 1996 and 2009, before moving to Paris and Kent in later years, but died aged 81 in September 2020. Eileen Pollock - Lilo Lill Despite not being a Boswell, Eillen Pollock's character Lilo Lill was one of the most recognisable characters on the show. Eileen brought to life Lilo Lil, who was the 'other woman' in Freddie Boswell's marriage to Nellie, between 1986 and 1991. The Belfast actress later appeared in the film version of Frank McCourt's book Angela's Ashes in 1999 and starred in Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman movie Far and Away in 1992, as landlady Molly. And in more recent years, Eileen turned her attention to the theatre, performing in a one-woman show Now I'm Sixty and in 2010 directed The Irish Wake of Paddy McGrath. She also delighted audiences with appearances in numerous pantomimes - which she said fulfilled a childhood dream of hers. But in 2020, her family announced she had sadly died at the age of 73. Jonathon Morris - Adrian Boswell Jonathon played Adrian Boswell, who stood out from his brothers as he looked to pursue a creative career. Best known for his role in Bread as Adrian Boswell, Boswell has continued to act. He presented CBBC game show The Movie Game from 1991 to 1993, replacing Phillip Schofield and made appearances on the popular '90s Channel 5 game show Night Fever. Prior to Bread, he had previously starred in the short-lived ITV sitcom That Beryl Marston! Born in Manchester in 1960, Morris also appeared in Beau Geste, Doctor Who, and The Prisoner of Zenda and in 2005 he competed in the third series of Channel 4 sports-based reality show The Games. In 2012, he revisited the setting of Bread on Elswick Street in Dingle ahead of his appearance in an ECHO Arena production of Sleeping Beauty. Peter Howitt - Joey Boswell Peter Howitt played the oldest of the Boswell children, Joey, until series five when Graham Bickley replaced him. The actor's first notable roles were in the long-running ITV series How We Use To Live and in Emmerdale in 1985. Peter has since gone on to write and direct romantic comedy and box office hit Sliding Doors with Gwyneth Paltrow in 1998, as well as Johnny English and Dangerous Parking. He now lives in Vancouver, Canada, with his wife and family. The writer and director recently paid tribute to Carla Lane's essential role in shaping the show . He said: "She wrote about five or six hit shows, consistently good, consistently funny. I flew all the way to Liverpool when she died. It was so important to pay my respects to someone who changed my life. It changed all of our lives." Victor McGuire - Jack Boswell Victor McGuire, from Tuebrook, played the loveable Jack Boswell in Bread and has since made notable appearances on both cinema and television screens. He later went on to play Ron Wheatcroft opposite Nicholas Lyndhurst in Goodnight Sweetheart and starred in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Woman in Black, Dalziel And Pascoe, Casualty and 2point4 Children. He has also appeared as security guard Ian in the Sky1 sitcom Trollied, Casualty, Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens in 2015, and had a spell as Big Garth on Coronation Street in 2019. More recently, viewers will have spotted him in The Responder and Kate and Koji. In 2020 he appeared as a policeman in an advert for Haribo. He also starred in ITV sitcom Kate & Koji as a customer named Mr. Mulholland, which he later reprised in 2022. Gilly Coman - Aveline Boswell Gilly Coman played Nellie's daughter Aveline, who was rose among the thorns of her brothers in the Boswell family. At the centre of one of Bread's most memorable moments, more than 21m viewers watched her Catholic character marry Protestant vicar Oswald in 1988. The actress also starred in Brookside, Coronation Street and Inspector Morse. Tragically, the mother-of-three died in 2010, of a suspected heart attack, aged 54. Nick Conway - Billy Boswell Youngest son Billy Boswell was played by Nick Conway. In the show, the character seemed to have a battle on his hands just to achieve the most basic of tasks - though not always through any fault of his own. Nick also appeared in Starting Out, Thank You Mrs Clinkscales, When Saturday Comes, Keep On Running and Juliet Bravo. The actor, from Shrewsbury, has starred in episodes of The Bill, Doctors and Coronation Street as recently as 2010. He has featured in many theatre productions and currently runs a theatre school. He currently works as a DJ under the name Nick Campbell. Melanie Hill - Aveline Boswell Actress Melanie Hill replaced Gilly as Aveline on Bread and stayed with the show until it was brought to an end in 1991. In her career, she was had starring roles in The Syndicate, BBC drama Waterloo Road and in the film Stardust. She is known for playing Cathy Matthews in Coronation Street between 2015 and 2022. Nowadays, she can be seen on Casualty where she plays Siobhan McKenzie. What are your favourite memories of Bread? Let us know in the comments section below. Bryan Murray - Cousin Shifty Decades after Bread aired, some of the cast members spoke to the ECHO and reflected on making the programme, their most memorable moments and working with Carla Lane, one of the most celebrated TV writers of her generation. Bryan Murray, now in his seventies played The Boswells' cousin Shifty, a role for which he won a BBC TV Personality of the Year Award. He said: “When you meet Jean, the warmth she gives you is the equivalent of your mother. You’re being welcomed home. Jean was amazing." Bryan has since gone on to star in a variety of television programmes and films such as Fair City and Brookside, Silent Witness and The Tudors.Football fan favorite store confirms only weeks from closure after 18 years – customers told with sign thanking them

With county foe South Decatur in the gym Thursday, the Class 3A No. 1 Lady Pirates hit the hardwood looking for an eighth straight win to open the season. Greensburg jumped out to a 19-5 lead and cruised from there, winning 66-17. Greensburg opened the scoring with a lay-up by Greensburg’s Mylie Wilkison. A right-corner 3-pointer by Leah West pushed the lead to five. South got on the board with a left baseline jumper by Paige McQueen at the 5:22 mark of the first quarter. Greensburg went on a 10-0 run, all scored by Claire Larrison. Larrison had a drive to the bucket, a 3-pointer, a traditional three-point play and bucket off the Aly Powers assist in the run to extend Greensburg lead to 15-2. Following a South timeout, Paige McQueen completed a traditional three-point play to cut the deficit to 10. Greensburg closed the quarter with a bucket by West and rebound put-back by Wilkison to lead 19-5 after one quarter. Larrison’s rebound bucket got the Lady Pirates going in the second quarter. South answered with a bucket by Dalilah Martin. Another Larrison putback started a Greensburg 17-2 run. Wilkison followed with a short jumper and Powers scored on the fastbreak. West then found Wilkison on the break for a 29-7 Greensburg lead. South’s Martin scored to slow the run, but a left-wing 3-pointer by Wilkison was followed with a Mary Harmon fastbreak bucket off the Emma McQueen assist. Larrison’s assist to West capped the run with Greensburg on top 38-9. After a Taylor Somers free throw for South, Emma McQueen stole the ball and dished to Powers for the easy bucket. Four points from West around another Taylor Somers free throw ended the first half with Greensburg leading 45-11. The third quarter scoring started with a short jumper by South’s Taylor Somers. Buckets by Greensburg’s Powers and Larrison started the running clock for the remainder of the game. The Lady Pirates outscored South 16-3 in the third quarter and 5-3 in the fourth quarter en route to the win. For the game, Greensburg shot 53 percent from the field while South shot 19 percent. South was 0-for-3 from beyond the 3-point arc. The Lady Pirates connected on 7-of-16. The Lady Pirates forced 24 turnovers and committed 10 turnovers.
